How Can I Instantly Whiten My Teeth?
Sparkling white teeth are all you could ever want.
Along with your eyes and nose, teeth are the center of your face and people will likely look at when you’re speaking to them. So, of course, you want to have the white pearly smile that people spend thousands on trying to get.
Whitening teeth couldn’t be easier and cheaper these days, you can buy whitening toothpaste, teeth strips, powder, gels, rinses, many different types of products but what whitens your teeth instantly?
Realistically the best way to get an instant result is to professionally get your teeth whitened at the dentist. But don’t get me wrong many other methods can do the trick.
My personal favorite is teeth whitening strips. According to WikiHow, whitening strips give you a whiter smile in only 60 minutes. Perfect if you are looking for an instant method.
Teeth-whitening strips are a great way to change the shade of your teeth, it’s what they’re designed to do. But the questions we ask for all types of teeth whitening products are:
“Are some brands better than others?”
“Which brand should I choose?”
There are many teeth whitening products on the market these days. The only downside is the majority of them either don’t work, or they aren’t one-use, the job is done. Many products require multiple uses to get the result that you want.
Do you find that companies claim you will see instant results but realistically these aren’t the results you were looking for? It’s so difficult to see the legit companies from the non-legit ones.
Finding a way to whiten your teeth instantly can be difficult, but we’re here to do the hard research for you.
What Teeth Whitening Products Are On the Market?
Teeth Whitening Toothpaste
Whitening toothpaste isn’t a quick method for everyone, it’s possible you might see some slight results but over time it does help to remove stains and brighten your smile.
Whitening Pen
Whitening pen’s use peroxide which bleaches the teeth. Again it won’t show a huge difference after one use, they advise for the best result that you should apply the gel three times a day for a month.
Whitening Tray
A whitening tray is very much like a retainer; you can have them fitted to your mouth or buy a “One size fits all”. To use, you put the peroxide gel into the tray and fit them over your teeth.
A whitening tray is much like the whitening pen, because peroxide gel is being used, which bleaches your teeth.
Why Do Teeth Go Yellow Over Time?
Naturally the older you get the more the color of your teeth will deteriorate.
According to, Live Science, the enamel that protects your teeth thins over time. They say that the number one cause of teeth going yellow is due to a person’s lifestyle. Those who smoke, drink coffee and tea are more prone to getting yellow teeth over time.
There are other significant factors which will progress the color change. Such as:
- Inadequate brushing and flossing
- Not regularly visiting the dentist
- Eating food and drinks that stain your teeth
- Illness
Illness can cause the body to stop producing things like enamel which protect our teeth.
- Injuries
Injuries can sometimes happen to the best of us, a broken tooth can often lead to it dying and discoloring.
- Genetics
Unfortunately, there are people out there that have genetics which will cause them to have yellow teeth.
How Can I Keep My Teeth the Shade I’m Happy with?
First and for most, brush and floss your teeth. You should be brushing your teeth for at least two minutes twice a day to remove plaque, this keeps them clean, preventing them from going the yellow color none of us is wanting.
Certain types of foods and drinks will stain your teeth. If you are looking to keep them the pearly white you’re happy with, then my best recommendation would avoid these foods/drinks completely or limit the consumption of them.
Bupa have made a list of the top 10 food and drinks which stain your teeth:
- Tea and coffee
- Red Wine
- Tomato-based Sauces
- Curry
- Soy Sauce
- Balsamic Vinegar
- Cola
- Fruit Juices e.g. cranberry, blueberry, etc.
- Beetroot
- Berries
Homemade Teeth Whitening Methods
There are many homemade methods that people preach by because it’s worked for them. This doesn’t always work for everyone though, it might be something that works for one person, but not the other.
Hydrogen Peroxide and Baking Soda
One of the most recommended methods is mixing hydrogen peroxide with baking soda and brushing it on your teeth for a good two minutes, for a lot of people they can start to notice results straight away. It’s not something that will instantly take your teeth from yellow to bright white but continuously doing this method could eventually give you the results you want.
Oil Pulling
Oil pulling is another popular homemade teeth whitening method that some people do. The process of oil pulling is to put a tablespoon of oil in your mouth and to swish it around as you would with mouthwash. This should be done for about 15-20 minutes.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar, if you mix it with water it can be used as a mouthwash. It purposely whitens your teeth over time. That’s if you can deal with the taste.
Strawberries
The one method I find weirdest but it is proven to work is by eating strawberries. The benefit of this is that they contain folic acid which helps to exfoliate teeth, which cleans them and makes them appear whiter. A natural and healthy way to have cleaner teeth.
So, Which Product Should I use?
If you want a cheap and instant method then I would suggest teeth whitening strips are the best for you. However, if you have the money then I would recommend consulting your dentist about professional whitening because it will be instant and effective.
